Entrepreneurs Champion of the Year

Entrepreneurs Champion of the Year

On 16th November 2017 it was announced that Clever Tykes had won Entrepreneurs’ Champion of the Year at the Great British Entrepreneur Awards 2017.

This is a huge award for us because it recognises the power of role models in creating more entrepreneurs, even if those role models are fictional. We’re working hard to ensure that a child’s background doesn’t have to dictate their future. Storybooks for social mobility.

Thanks to those of you who have bought books for your 6-9 year olds, to Lloyds Banking Group for supporting the vision, to Tim and Hannah at Urban Comms for the nomination, and to Rebecca and Emily for beautifully representing Clever Tykes when picking up the award!

Creator of the Awards, Francesca James, said:

“We have been inundated with some incredible entries this year, and all shortlisted applicants should be extremely proud of themselves! This year has seen a record number of entrants and we’ve been absolutely blown away by the strength and diversity of applications.

“Jodie and Ben are doing something unique in championing the entrepreneurial cause through storybooks, centering the books around developing enterprising skills among children and ensuring they are distributed far and wide.”

“We cannot wait to celebrate entrepreneurship across Great Britain with them, and put a spotlight on the incredible talent within the British entrepreneur ecosystem.”

I am a huge advocate of the entrepreneurial messages and characteristics that you are driving. I think it is a fantastic idea to instil the idea of entrepreneurship into children from a young age. This is a great way to open children up to the idea of not always following conventional paths and giving them the belief and confidence from an early age to pursue their own creative business ideas and ventures.

James Caan, CBE - entrepreneur and former Dragon

“The Clever Tykes series are such a wonderful way to introduce ‘enterprise’ to children from a young age – I can’t recommend them highly enough, and strongly urge parents to read along with their child as there is no doubt the stories will stimulate lots of questions and interest!”

“I found Walk-it Willow easy to read and full of lovely messages that children can take from it. It touched on taking responsibility, problem solving, admitting mistakes and also the work it takes to run a small business. Willow is entertaining but very human. A lovely story.”
