17 Apr Seeking out diversity of thought
Parent and business leader Kathryn Campbell plans to incorporate diversity into how she raises her daughter, to promote empathy and being open to the views of others.
“Empathy and being open to the views of others are important values for us as parents. We appreciate that given the singularity of our life experiences, it is difficult to single-handedly devise the best solutions, therefore we must seek out diversity of thought by collaborating and working with people of different backgrounds.
“Although the teaching opportunity for this life lesson does not yet present itself with our daughter (she is only 3 years old), we welcome the opportunity to expand on it as she grows older.”
We can only coach and guide from the basis of our narrow reality. Seeking second opinions from people of different backgrounds to ours might lead us down different paths.
